One of the most exciting and entertaining fights of the second non-fight of the MMA league will be between Curtis Blades and Chris Dokos. Blades is ranked as the fourth best fighter, while Dokos is ranked as the ninth.
Blades’ winning streak of 4 straight matches was interrupted by Derrick Lewis, who chose the only right strategy in the fight against the Black Beast. Lewis ended the fight early, knocking out his opponent.
Blades was able to rehabilitate a bit in his next fight, against Jairzinho Rosenstruyk. The latter, in spite of all his fame as a knockout, couldn’t get past Blades, who took the fight to the final round and won by decision.
With what result will the title fight end? It’s hard to say, as Blades is known as a UFC fighter who performs with mixed success.
As for Chris Dokos, he is a less experienced fighter, but very promising and promising. Interestingly, also in the case of Dokos, his winning streak of four straight fights was interrupted by the same Derrick Lewis. And just as in the Blades’ case, the Lewis – Dokos fight ended with the knockout of the latter.
What are the prospects for either fighter in the upcoming bout? This fight is most important for Dokos, as a win would put him in the top 5 fighters. As for Blades, he’ll only get some reputational bonuses, but the outcome of the fight probably won’t affect the fighter’s place in the rankings.
Experts see Blades as the favourite as the more experienced fighter with superior striking technique. Most experts agree that an early end to the fight is highly unlikely. The fighters will most likely continue to fight for the duration of the scheduled fight, and the winner will be decided by the judges.
Curtis Blades must have done some serious work on his mistakes after his loss to Derek Lewis. Certainly he’s learned his lesson from Lewis and Dokos, but it’s fair to say that he doesn’t have the punching power to knock out an opponent as tough as Blades surely is.
Chris Dokos is certainly a very strong fighter. He came to MMA from jiu-jitsu, where he earned his black belt. However, Dokos’ fight statistics show very few opponents whose level can be compared to that of Blades. Also, the experts are of the opinion that Dokos can not withstand Blades’s perfected skills of painful and choking techniques, which he showed perfectly during the fight with Alexey Olejnik.
Blades is also a very skilled and experienced fighter, so he may be tempted to hold his opponent to the floor, which is exactly what the new masters of MMA jiu-jitsu are waiting for.
Some experts believe that the fight may still end early. The reason for that belief is Chris Dokos’s fighting record, during which he often showed far from the best stamina. At the same time, they are very cautiously optimistic about a clean sweep for Blades, with a tendency to expect a TKO in the end of the fight.
