The Red Devils midfielder has been awarded the First Class Service Medal to the Fatherland after helping Jose Mourinho’s side to three trophies.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan helped Manchester United to three trophies in 2016-17 and has now been awarded the First Class Service Medal to the Motherland by Armenia.
The attacking midfielder had an early test of life at Old Trafford after a £26m switch from Borussia Dortmund.
He was carried for half-time in his first Premier League start against Manchester United in September and was hardly seen again until late November.
Judi Togel – Mkhitaryan’s class, however, was to shine and he quickly became a key player as the Red Devils added the EFL Cup and Europa League crowns to their Community Shield success.
His efforts have now been recognised in his homeland with an honour usually reserved for members of the armed forces.
Mkhitaryan received the medal from Armenia’s president, Serzh Sargsyan, at a ceremony on Sunday.
He will likely be recognised by those at home once again this year, as he looks to lift his seventh Armenian Player of the Year.
For now, though, he is in a position to reflect on a productive 2016-17 campaign that has seen him emerge as a key man for Jose Mourinho.
He ended the season in the best possible style, with his acrobatic goal in the Europa League final against Ajax earning United a 2-0 win, more silverware and a place in next season’s Champions League.
